PDS Problem Gambling Treatment

Confidential support for gambling addiction and recovery.

Problem gambling can disrupt your life, relationships, and emotional well-being. PDS is a certified problem gambling provider through the Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS). An estimated 56,000 Minnesota adults meet criteria for problem gambling and about 162,000 more are considered at risk (Minnesota Department of Human Services, Problem Gambling Program) — gambling addiction is a serious public health issue, and help is available.

Cost & funding

Free or low-cost. Treatment is funded through the Minnesota DHS Problem Gambling Program and is available with or without health insurance.

What Is Gambling Disorder?

Gambling Disorder is characterized by persistent, recurrent gambling behavior that leads to significant distress or disruption in personal, family, or work life (as defined by DSM-5 criteria).

Who Is Eligible for Treatment?

You may qualify for services through PDS if:

  • You are a Minnesota resident, 18 years or older
  • You are currently gambling or at risk of relapse
  • You are willing to participate in an assessment and weekly sessions
  • Service is available for those with or without health insurance

How Treatment Works

Services are delivered by a Certified Problem Gambling Counselor and tailored to your needs:

  • Comprehensive (Rule 82) Problem Gambling Assessment
  • Telehealth or in-person sessions
  • One-on-one counseling
  • Family involvement available upon request
  • Confidential, respectful, and non-judgmental environment
